NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Cleveland County deputies seized about 50 pounds of marijuana after stopping a sport utility vehicle along Interstate 35.
Sheriff Joe Lester says a deputy on routine patrol smelled marijuana after stopping the Ford SUV near I-35 and Indian Hills Road in north Norman on Tuesday.
Lester says deputies searched the vehicle after a drug dog alerted them to the smell of narcotics and discovered 50 "bricks" of marijuana.
Cleveland County prosecutors charged 35-year-old Valentin D. Tapia of Wichita, Kan., and 29-year-old Francisco A. Reyes with drug trafficking. Court records do not indicate if either has retained an attorney.
