OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A hardship waiver sought by a Jones High School football player has been denied by the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association.

OSSAA officials ruled last week that the player was ineligible, forcing the school to forfeit six victories. The school's record is now 2-8 overall.

OSSAA Executive Secretary Ed Sheakley said the association first learned of an eligibility issue with the player, whom he would not identify, when it received an anonymous e-mail.

The player was in his first season at Jones after transferring from another school.

Jones, which hadn't filed for a hardship waiver on the player's behalf before the OSSAA's investigation, is exploring other options.
