CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — The Faulkner County Sheriff's office says an inmate who walked away from a work crew detail has been captured in Jacksonville.
Sheriff's Capt. John Randall said authorities caught up with 23-year-old Jake Steven Rackley Tuesday night.
Randall says investigators believe Rackley feigned stomach trouble and left his assigned work building at the Conway Sanitation Department because he was trying to get to Jacksonville, where he had made prior arrangements to get married.
Randall says he doesn't know if Rackley recited any wedding vows, but said that may explain why he chose to flee when he was less than 12 days away from being released.
Officials have said Rackley failed to pay fines for a theft of property charge last year.
