GRADY, Ark. (AP) — Motorists accustomed to slowing way down for this Lincoln County town along U.S. 65 southeast of Pine Bluff will be able to maintain open-highway speeds now as they pass around the community.

The state Highway and Transportation Department said the new U.S. 65 bypass around Grady would open at mid-morning Wednesday.

A news release from the agency said two-way traffic that has been using the two lanes built to handle northbound vehicles would be split, with southbound traffic moved to newly finished lanes. The release said the speed limit through the area would be 55 mph for a few weeks until the contractor completes work alongside the new road, and the limit is raised to 65 mph.
