LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The federal Energy Department says the Newport and Cedarville school districts will get a total of $3.3 million in stimulus funding to carry out work intended to increase energy efficiency.

The department said in a news release Thursday that each district received grants of nearly identical size, $1.63 million.

The money is to be used in the Cedarville system to "retrofit heat and cooling systems at a number of schools ... to reduce utility costs and provide regional economic growth," the release said.

At Newport, the release said, the money will be used to install a ground-source heat-pump heating and cooling system at Newport High School.
