Flooding Threatens Commute, Damages Yards, Closes Road
Residents are dealing with major flooding tonight after storms moved through the River Valley and Ouachitas around 6 p.m. And the water laden roads could cause problems for your morning commute.

The storm dumped between four to five inches of rain across the area, leaving many yards, streets and low water bridges flooded. In Logan County, Booneville School officials have decided to run their bus routes an hour later than usual on Friday to avoid any dangerous spots. But teachers and staff will be on campus at the normal time, so that parents can drop students off.

In Waldron, several parts of a busy highway are shut down by authorities. U.S. 71 North which intersects with highway 80 is flooded, as well as a portion of Hwy. 71 near the community of Packsaddle. The Scott County Sheriff's Department says Hwy. 71 South is the only way out of Waldron. Officials hope the roads will be passable by morning.

5NEWS viewers Debbie and Darrell Pyles sent in this photo of flooding outside their home in Waldron. The Pyles say it's the worst they've seen in the 5 years they've lived in the home.

While wind and tree damage is minimal, there are reports of power outages in Lamar, in Johnson County.
