34-year-old Matthew Edmond was killed when a driver swerved off the road and hit three bicyclists.
Matthew was the oldest of seven children.
Now the Edmond family is having to go on without their loved one. "He was very, very special. I didn't know how special he was until I saw all the MySpace pages and all the people writing in. They all loved him. And his favorite thing in the world was riding his bicycle," said Monica Edmonds, Matthew Edmond's mother.
Matthew Edmonds was killed on Tuesday by a driver the police think had been drinking.
Edmond was a native of Van Buren.
He graduated from Van Buren high school in 1993.
He worked his way through college at the University of Arkansas and graduated with a masters in geology. "He was a good man. He was good. He was very good. He was kind and very serious. Very dedicated. He loved life, he loved his work even," said Edmonds.
Matthew's family want him remembered as a man who had a lot to live for, and someone who will be missed terribly. "He was just a good person with a whole lot of fun and ambitions and fun ahead of him." Matthew's memorial service is set for Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Living Word River Valley in Alma. The service will be open to the public.
The family is setting up a memorial fund in Matthew's honor instead of flowers.
T+The driver of the car that hit the cyclists is being held at the Tulsa County Jail on two counts of first degree manslaughter.
