A man who claimed he was the victim of a shooting could soon be going to jail.
Last week Sebastian County Deputies were called to a home south of Greenwood, on reports that a man had been shot. 25-year-old James Dickson, Jr. told police he had gone to his father's property to investigate a trespasser, and was shot by the suspect.
Today the Sheriff's Office requested a warrant be issued for the alleged shooting victim. Captain Kevin Nickson says Dickson faces charges of filing a false police report and felon in possession of a fire arm.
"It comes down to what we can prove and what we can't prove," Capt. Nickson said. "We can prove what he reported to authorities was false so the prosecutor took that into consideration when he decided to file a false police report on him."
Capt. Nickson says they now believe Dickson accidentally shot himself.
