Visitors Enjoy 13th Annual Butterfly Festival
The heat was over 100 degrees, but that didn't stop people from enjoying the 13th annual Butterfly Festival atop Mount Magazine.

The event brought people from all over the area to enjoy the live music, crafts, and an art show.

But what people really came to see was the butterflies.

And due to the high temperatures, the butterflies were released earlier than expected.

Still, this is not the only time of the year people come to Mount Magazine to enjoy the colorful creatures

The mountain is home to the Diana Butterfly, which is found uniquely in Arkansas. "They do know we hold this annual event. We're known for having the Diana butterfly. So even throughout the year people come out and hike the trails to see what butterflies they can find," said park superintendent Becky Bariola .

The festival also featured the butterfly conservatory.

Visitors could walk into a mesh tent filled with butterflies.

All the butterflies were caught in Paris and the surrounding area, and were released back into the area.

And organizers are hoping that the festival will open people's eyes to all the things to do in Arkansas. "Arkansas has so many good things to offer. You don't really have to go very far to see something of beauty and value. You can see it right here in your back yard," said master gardener Susan Johnson.
