The residents of D Street in Barling were facing high waters after Wednesday's rains.
"The water was running down there. It used to be a ditch before they put the culverts in and when they put the culverts in it was just like a big old river down through here. Three houses down from me get flooded. All these houses down here get flooded. It was horrible, it was just a big old river," said Linda Sheffield.
But this is not a problem they are used to. In fact this is the first time the water has caused problems for Barling citizens.
And many on D Street attribute that to the construction going on at the school up the road. "This has never happened before. I've lived here 20 something years and this has never happened before until the construction stuff started going on."
We received this picture from Linda Sheffield of the flooding last night.
She says her yard was covered in at least a foot of water
And now she wants a solution to the problem. "If it rains like that every time it's going to do it again until they fix the problem. And I hope they fix the problem for me and my neighbors down there."
5 News spoke with city official Steve Core with the City of Barling.
He says there was a bale of hay in the culvert blocking the flow of water and several rocks and bricks stuck in the culvert.
Core says the blockage has since been removed and the flow of water restored.
