If it worked back in 1773, why not try it again. That's what organizers and supporters are saying about Monday's Tax Day Tea Party.

It's a way for citizens to protest against the government for "irresponsible spending and unfair tax policies," according to Laurie Masterson, who is organizing a rally in Fayetteville.

"We have a constitution being obliterated by the state and federal government," said Masterson. "There's trillions of dollars going into debt and we have to pay that off and there's no feasible way to do that."

More than 2,000 cities across the country will be participating in the event, 36 of them in Arkansas. Those in Northwest Arkansas include: Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Rogers, Bentonville and Bella Vista.

Fort Smith - Ross Pendergraft Park, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m, 200 Garrison Avenue

Fayetteville – Fayetteville Square, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Rogers – Frisco Stage on First Street, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Bentonville – The Square, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Bella Vista – Sugar Creek Shopping Center, Noon
