Authorities in Fayetteville are warning parents about a dangerous plant that sent three students to the hospital after they ate it.
The plant is known as Jimson Weed, also commonly referred to as "stink weed." According to authorities with the Fayetteville School District, about five students ate the weeds yesterday morning. And soon after lunch, they became violently ill.
"All of a sudden one of the students began thrashing around, it was scary for the teacher and the other students," said Alan Wilbourn with the school district. "It was not a normal school day, so we called the medical professionals and got them some help."
Three students had to be taken to the hospital, two of them were placed in the Intensive Care Unit. All of them are expected to make a full recovery.The Fayetteville School District alerted parents today about the incident and asked them to warn students about the plant.
